SJ class F no. 1200
SJ class F no. 1200
Built in 1914 as the first of a class of eleven fast passenger train steam locomotives. Faster than the maximum allowed speed 90 km/h.
After electrification of the main lines this class had no jobs in Sweden, so they were all sold to Denmark in 1937 where they were allowed to run at 110 km/h and were so well liked that 25 more were built between 1942 - 1950.
This and one more were returned to Sweden in 1963 and this is the one currently in operating condition.
(Distinguished by being involved in the worst railway accident in Sweden through no fault of its own: "F 1200 Getå".)
